Byron Bay

Byron Bay is a small beach town in New South Wales on the east coast of Australia. Byron Bay is an extremely easy place to hitch in and out of. You can easily explore the region through hitching. You can easily catch rides to and from Ballina, Nimbin, Bangalow, Mullumbimby and Lismore. People will stop in town and are happy to take you short and long distances. Ewingsdale Road and Bangalow road are great places to hitch from.

Hitchhiking out

North towards the Gold Coast and Brisbane

Head north on the main drag (Jonson Street) and turn left just before the beach onto Shirley Street which curves left and right and becomes Ewingsdale Road. You can walk along this road with your sign facing behind you until you get to a gas station or the onramp to M1 (a few kilometers down


South Towards Sydney

Head South on Bangalow Road. Get a ride up the Coast Road towards Ballina. There are some perfect turn offs for cars on the Pacific Highway in Ballina.
