Hitchhiking out

South towards San Quintin / Guerrero Negro / Baja California Sur

On the boulevards along the Ensenada malecon and beach, you can take a bus to Maneadero, or even to the next village Canon Buenavista. Cost is 11 pesos to Maneadero, 13 to Canon Buenavista. From there, it's easier to hitchhike south, because you're out of local traffic.

If you're coming from Tijuana and you only want to pass Ensenada, get off at the caseta de cobro just before town, and wait for a ride across town.

East towards San Felipe

Take the bus to Ojos Negros (in the map you will see it as Real del Castillo Viejo) in a small bus station in Downtown, 4th street and Riverol av.The name of the buses company is "Transportes Brisa". Its only 34 MXN and the trip takes an hour. Buses departs at 6 AM, 11:15 AM, 2 PM and 6 PM. Take off the bus after the militar check point, on the Route 3, before they turn into the town of Ojos Negros. Then just follow Route 3 until you reach San Felipe.

Sleeping

Free camping on Playa Hermosa to the south is good for hitching south in the morning. Facilities include porta-loos and thatched umbrellas. This may change - military personnel were photographing tents in August 2019, but said there was no problem at the time.
