Hitching Out
When standing on or near the beach, try to walk up the hill via the town or follow the main road (which is called Ulica Panorama Pat, Ulica Magnolia and Ulica Primorska - the name changes but it's the same road - number 27). However, this main road is going through the town and traffic that bypasses Balchik will not use it. You can hitch it, but there won't be many cars. It might be better to walk up to E87 (check Google Maps [https://maps.google.nl/maps?hl=en&q=Balchik,+Dobrich+Province,+Bulgaria&ie=UTF-8 here]).
If you’re on the roundabout where E87, 27, and 9 meet. There is a gas station right next to it. If you take 27 going into the town, 15 minutes down that road there is the Balchik Bus Station. That bus station will take you to Varna, Bulgaria. The bus ride costs about 6 leva and the bus station opens at 6 AM, but it’s more like 7 AM. If you have no money, you can go to the CBA Supermarket that’s 6 minutes away. There is 2-3 ATMs there on the right side of the building.
This method of transportation isn’t ideal if you’re trying to stick to hitchhiking. Although, you’ll end up stuck or waiting for hours to get hitched out of Balchik. Taking the bus to Varna ensures that you get to a bigger coastal city and are able to hitch out of the coast easier.
