The Budzisko-Kalvarija border checkpoint is a border crossing between Poland and Lithuania. Now that both countries are in Schengen, cars no longer regularly come to a stop here. However, the parking lot at the border is still popular with truck drivers, and within walking distance on both sides of the border there are petrol stations where one can ask drivers for onward rides.
== Crossing into Lithuania == On the Lithuanian side, the E7 "Via Baltica" highway begins. This ultimately goes to Tallinn in Estonia. Many truck drivers stop to rest at a parking lot on the Lithuanian side. If the driver leaves you here, you can go from truck to truck and ask one of the other drivers to take you on to at least passing by Kaunas or in Lithuania, VilniusRiga. Getting a lift in a car here is difficultLatvia, as cars drive through without parking and ultimately Tallinn in Estonia. On the Polish side, the drivers may think that stopping to pick up hitchhikers nearest large city is not permitted. Truck drivers are the best bet. == Crossing into Poland == .Bialystok.
