The cheapest option to catch a bus into town is to book in advance through the Internet. You can also pay the driver directly or book your ticket at the airport counter when available. [http://www.easybus.co.uk/booking/EBUSBook.asp Easybus] is the cheapest option followed by [http://www.terravision.eu/london.html Terravision] and [http://www.nationalexpress.com/airports/airports.cfm?t=air NationalExpress], National Express, the national carrier, is the only carrier that connects Airport directly though.
For a quicker, but more expensive option, there is always the Stansted Express train. Note though that the tickets barrier are usually fully open before 6am in Central London, therefore you don't need a ticket to get out! ''(Information unknown for Stansted airport station does not have ticket barriers however there are inspectors that routinely carry out ticket checks, however they can be easily circumvented by using the barrier at Stansted thoughlift.)''
