Hi there, my name is GerbenAbout time I start contributing a bit more to this site.  Until 31/12/10 I'm can host you in Utrecht if you pass by. Gerben is a Dutch student , formerly in Delft doing civil engineering, but has now almost finished his degree in liberal arts and sciences in Utrecht, where he has lived for the past three years. I'm He first started hitchhiking on the road quite a lotQueensday 2006, and mostly hitchhikinggot picked up by a Brazilian air acrobat who told him she always picked up hitchhikers when she saw them. Apart Going only from the obvious fact Delft to Amsterdam that day, he decided that it saves travelcosts, everytime I'm home for a while I get this weird feeling. I just want must be possible to hitchhike somewherego further as well. So I usually do:)I hitchhike for funfar, and sometimes really just because it saves money. This only happens on short distances though. I hitchhike he has hitchhiked criss cross through the Netherlands quite oftenEurope in all directions, and make has made several bigger trips : in 2008 he hitchhiked from here NL to all kinds of places. Hope Russia and back, while in 2009 he hitchhiked from NL to make it into China, passing Turkey, the Caucasus and Central Asia one dayen route. Got as far as St.Petersburg In the summer of 2010 he hitchhiked from Egypt to Kenya, passing Sudan and Moscow so far in that directionEthiopia on the way.I'm not so much into statisticsCurrently, although I like to keep my notebooks with all my signs as souvenirs:) And ofcourse some extremes are nice to remember, such as my ride at 260km/h around Berlin, and a 2 day ride with a Polish trucker, or hitchhiking he is planning his first Atlantic crossing by boat after his graduation in total darkness in the Highlands of ScotlandDecember.
