Walk to the train station which is already very close to the highway (A33), then walk along ''Bahnhofstraße'' westwards until you see encounter the gas stations along the way: ask people!
''We tried it in February 2011 and the second car we talked to brought us to the rest area near '''Soest''' on the A44. From there we got a hitch directly towards into Düsseldorf. Didn't take long either.''
