If you want to go to Berlin, or generally direction west, take tram 1 in the direction ''Neuberesinnschen'' (€1,20) and get off at the last stop. Then walk some 100 m along the street ''Mühlenweg''. You will see a petrol station. You can hitchhike at the exit of the station. It usually takes 10-20 minutes until somebody offers a ride.

Hitchhiking into Poland is best done from point where the E30 crosses the border. This border station is actually on the Polish side, because the actual border is in the middle of the river Oder. To get there on foot will take you for sure an hour, maybe 90 minutes, if you know the way.
