500m behind the old Lithuanian checkpoint quite some truck drivers seem to stop to buy some vignette for the highway (or sth like this) so it's also easy to ask them for a ride; should be easy to get rides to everywhere in Baltics or even further into Russia.
On the Lithuanian side, the E7 "Via Baltica" highway begins, passing by [[Kaunas]] in Lithuania, [[Riga]] in Latvia, and ultimately [[Tallinn]] in Estonia. On the Polish side, the nearest large city is [[Białystok|Bialystok]].
