The junction of the M6 with A6 and A66 is outside the city in an industrial area. You can stand shortly after the [[traffic light hitchhiking|traffic lights]] where the motorway begins. Cars can stop on the [[shoulder|hard shoulder]]. There is a CCTV camera, but it's not clear whether it can see you.
Just west of the junction is also a big parking space, the hitch-ability of which is unknown.
