66-7-340. Pedestrians soliciting rides or business.
A. No person shall stand in a roadway for the purpose of soliciting a ride, employment or business from the occupant of any vehicle.  As with most states, the definition of roadway in this context in New Mexico permits the solicitation of rides when not on the traveled portion such as the shoulder or berm.
