I don't know why you added that Romania has been part of Schengen since January 1, since that simply isn't true. Romania's ascension to the zone has been vetoed several times. See [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_zone#Prospective_members here]. There are still border controls between Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria.
