May 2014. We used the first option to get out of the city and were happily hitchhiking north within one hour. The traffic in this road is not heavy but there seem to be a few trucks going north towards the border daily. [[user:Rovingsnails|RovingSnails]]

Option 2: Get the intercity bus to Guwlymayak from the bus station in front of the train station. It costs 1 manat but there are very few per day. There is a little window where a lady sells tickets and you can ask for the timetable. Ask the driver to drop you on the road before turning in the junction and continue to hitchhike north.
