The German town of [[Kehl]] (just over the border to the East) is a good place to pick up traffic to the A5 (all directions), especially from the gas petrol station at the entrance to the B28 ([http://hitchwiki.org/maps/?place=7333]).
Walking (from Strasbourg centre) to Kehl takes about 50 minutes if you go the shortest route (check Google maps!).

Take a regional train direction ''Brumath/Mommenheim'' and make sure it stops at ''Stephansfeld''. From there you can walk within 15 min to the gas petrol station ''Aer de Seervice Brumath'' on the A4 and start hitchhiking straight at the gas petrol station.
The trainticket from Strasbourg to Stephansfeld costs EUR 3.50 (2011).
