OR: Take the S1 to Eching. Pass under the railway to the side where the trains head back towards Munich City and walk the bike path along the railway in the direction you arrived by train until you reach the first bridge that goes over the railway (around 100m). Shortly before the bridge, turn left to reach the road coming down from the bridge (Paul-Käsmeier-Straße). At this crossing (marked with B in [http://goo.gl/maps/AOYSz this map]) , you can hitchhike easily to the next town Günzenhausen and walk towards Fürholzen. This road will underpass the motorway, few meters later you'll find a small road to the petrol station "Fürholzen Ost" (marked as C in the same [http://goo.gl/maps/AOYSz map]).

''August 2016: Option 3 worked very well. If you are around the airport area, then Eching is only 4 S-bahn stops away (~15 mins by S1). The walk from Eching to Raststätte Fürholzen is about 1 hour, but it is possible to hitchhike on the way. At Raststätte Fürholzen I only needed 20 mins or so to find a lift to nearby Würzburg (where I found another lift to eventually get me to Bremen). Many cars were going in the direction of the Netherlands, some going to the North. I hitched on a Sunday, so many cars were full already (with passengers and bags) as people return home from vacations. Still, the spot were full of cars and there were some with empty seats.''
