Considered more safe '''Santa Elena de Uairen''' is a city in the south of Bolivar state, [[Venezuela]] near the border with [[Brazil]]. It is generally considered safer than the rest of the country, and as such hitchhiking is fairly common in this area. Lots of people have pick-up trucks and don't mind letting people hop in the back. A lot of Brazilians go here for buying things cheaper. It is also a starting point for hikes to the Roraima Tepuy.
