Barbados is the easternmost island of the Caribbean and has an area of 430 square kilometers. The capital is Bridgetown. Other major towns include Holetown, Oistins, and Speightstown. Be wary of the odd hurricane, tropical storm, or landslide during the wet season (June till November). The possibility of a hurricane is higher, if not restricted to the eastern side. Generally this occurs once every 26 years or so. Serious hurricanes appear to pop up even less often as the most recent one that caused major damage to the island was in 1955.
