Hitchhiking out
South East/How to Escape Beaconsfield London/Dover/M40
Only read if you get dropped off at 'Beaconsfield Service Station'.
Be aware that the lorries at the station are only going North towards Manchester/Scotland etc. - not Southwards (we should know as we spent hours waiting/asking at Beaconsfield!). From the service station walk towards the exit and turn right towards a big roundabout/Bridge which leads to the M40. On the road leading to the M40 and London there is a big and long stretch of layby in which you can hold up a big sign for cars to quickly stop and pick you up. Note: it will take a long time as it does lead onto a very busy motorway (it took us about an hour), but it is the best way to get out of Beaconsfield if the annoying service station takes too long.
