<map lat='-19.82' lng='-43.95' zoom='11' view='0' float='right' /> Belo Horizonte ([bɛloɾiˈzõtʃi], lit. "Beautiful Horizon"), or BH ("Beagá") is situated in the south-east of Brazil. It has a population of 5.4 million and is the third-largest metropolitan area of the country.
This is really a good city to hitchhikers, it has directly roads to main cities as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Salvador and Vitória.
Hitchhiking out
South towards Ouro Preto, Rio de Janeiro (BR40)
From BH to Ouro Preto (MG) or Rio de Janeiro you can hitchhike a bit farther from the shopping mall "BH Shopping", after the junction of the two main roads BR 040 and BR 356. It is common to see people hitchhiking there.

ON THE WAY If you're heading to the city of Ouro Preto or surroundings and the person who picked you up is going towards Rio de Janeiro, ask them to drop you off at Alphavile, it is a very known condominium at the corner of the road that you'll need to take if you're going to Ouro Preto. Alphavile is also known for the Ingleses Lake.
