Bidart is a commune of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in southwestern France. It is located in the traditional Basque province of Labourd.

There is only one road in Bidart. On the roundabout it should be fairly easy to get a ride in any direction.

Camping

The entrance to the secret spot and the statue guarding it.

Bidart is useful because it's close to Biarritz but less crowded and easier to camp. There is a paid camping site but as of August 2017 it was closed. Campers in region have informed that police has said it's fine to camp on the beach as long as you're out by 8 AM. However, a better place is on the right side of the beach, behind the public showers and a pub. There a little area with trees by a wall with a large hole to enter marked by an old statue. Inside there is a nice flat covered spacious spot which is ideal for camping.
