Cheboksari

Cheboksari is the capital of Chuvashia Republic within the Russian Federation. It is a really green town with very good amenities, plenty of children gamboling in colourful playgrounds and unfortunately quite a few tipplers standing in drinking circles in their neighbourhoods.

Hitching out towards Saransk

From the bus terminal which is right next to the train station get a minibus - marshrutka to the village Bol'shiye Katrasi. Marshrutka 158 and many others pass that village. Get off the bus at the intersection before it turns from the motorway onto the village road. That is the R 178 motorway that will get you to Saransk. This route is via Shumerlya to avoid 2 big towns on the way - Tsivilsk and Kanash.
