Drivers' reactions are though more definitive. Or surely no, never, or it is surely yes, with burning breaks. People who like dogs, do not hesitate, they just stop. But they might not stop for just a single human.
Some human religions say that dogs are ''dirty'', also in some countries our brothers dogs are being eaten. Take into consideration those cultural differences and inform yourself before hitting the road.

* do not drink too much before travelling
* as your human is already quite stressed, try to be nice and do not annoy him too much
* do not run over the road, this can be dangerous
* always look nicely to the drivers

* do not bark after cyclists and other traffic, it could worsen the image of hitchhiking!
* as human's world is weird and sometimes incomprehensible, for your safety listen to your human
* always be polite to other humans and dogs already in the car
* inform the human you are hitchhiking with in case of flirting attempts (or worse) of a dog which happens to be in the car already
