A shared taxi towards the eastern edge of the city (Bazinul Nou) costs only 1 leu (August 2009). The driver will leave you near a shipyard on the road towards the border, from which it is possible to get a lift in direction of Moldova. Be aware that there is no much traffic in this direction

Galaţi is a city in central eastern Romania. Nearby is a route into the Republic of Moldova, the Galaţi-Giugiuleşti border crossing, which is also a convenient route towards Odessa in Ukraine.
