Genève (Genf, Geneva) is a city in the west of Switzerland.

Hitching out

Eastwards Lausanne, Bern or Zürich

Go to rue de Lausanne, near la perle du lac. Take the tramway 1 and stop at Secheron. It's just here, there is a speed control radar in shape of cow, you can wait just after the traffic light. Cars can stop easily. It's a very good spot.

You can also ask people at the petrol station beside. Works really well!

Take bus 5 from main station to Gd-Saconnex-Place on Route de Ferney, stand with a sign just after the bus stop. There is a BP petrol station nearby, many cars going to motorway A1 for longer distance.

West/Southwards Chamonix, Torino or Milano

Take bus 27 towards Thônex-Vallard-Douane and go to the end of the line. Walk through the customs to France and stand at the end of the customs just before the cars speed up for the motorway. The position is very good, the customs officers are nice, speed is low, there´s space for cars to stop, all the traffic is passing through.
