Hitching out

West - Tepic, Puerto Vallarta

Get the 629 bus west. The bus travels along Avenida Vallarta and over the ring road junction to the highway Guadalajara-Tepic. Get off when you see the "Guadalajara Technology Park" complex on your right. Walk for 5-10 mins more in the same direction and you will find a reasonably sized petrol station with shops and restaurants. If you walk back on yourself you will find another petrol station with an OXXO but it is smaller than the one up ahead and you will find it is where many people stop just on their way to the Technology Park.

East - León, Aguascalientes, Mexico City

Catch any bus which goes towards the Central Nueva de Autobuses (the new bus station), for example the 275 diagonal which you can take on Avenida 16 de Septiembre in the city center. As you approach very near of the central, you'll see the freeway so get down there, or else from the central walk downhill until you hit the freeway. You'll see a very high Burger King sign, there's a huge parking lot, a gas station, and a lot of stores around it. Ask around in the lot or thumb at the exit of the gas station for a ride to the toll booth (spanish: un ride a la siguiente caseta) which is 10 minutes east by car. If your ride isn't going any further your direction get off at the toll booth. Excellent spot to hitchhike, people driving out are headed to all sorts of places!
