"Oh, I just found out a really cool new spot in a funky city that has not been added to the hitchwiki yet... I want to do that! But how?"

Anyone maybe feels like this someday, and after a minute he/she maybe thinks about how to begin with a new article.

Well, it's easy: Just start! :)

But to avoid a lot of editing and to make it all a bit nicer, maybe this guideline could be helpful:

  • First, use the Search function. Maybe there is also an entry for you city. Attention: Maybe it has a different name in its language (e.g. Köln in German is Cologne in English, etc.)! If not, fantastic! Just click on You can create this page! (Also, clicking on a red link will let you create a new page.
  • Write some general information about the city. What's it's name, to which country does it belong, is it boring, fantastic, whatever. Have a look at Berlin, Hannover or Hörstel to get some ideas about that! (Don't write too much, Wikipedia is the right place for the history, geography and such.)
  • The hitching information! To have a common layout, most people try to write the articles in a style like this:
'''Rome''' is the capital of [[Italy]]. Years ago, the Romans blabla....
==Hitching Out==

===North/South/West/East towards [[Napoli]]===
Information about the spot

*Alternative spot
*2nd alternative ...

==Alternative information: Sleep, Food, Things to do, etc..==

And this is what it looks like:

Rome is the capital of Italy. Years ago, the Romans blabla....

Hitching Out

North/South/West/East towards Napoli

Information about the spot

  • Alternative spot
  • 2nd alternative ...

Alternative information: Sleep, Food, Things to do, etc..

Great! That's it! Easy, hum? If you have fun with it, you can also add a map from liftershalte.info and/or edit more pages! Generally, don't panic about style, spelling, layout and things like that, there are a bunch of other hitchhikers looking at all the edits on this wiki, and they will help you whereever they can!

Have fun!
