Iraq is a country in the Middle East.
Considering the constant state of war it would probably be quite insane to hitch here.
There are stories from some people hitchhiking in Iraq successfully since the 90s, however, because of late complications regarding Turkey-PKK conflict it might be difficult to get a free ride (by Dec 2007).
We highly recommend to NOT hitchhike in Iraq at the moment.
