Jihlava

Jihlava is nice city in Czech Republic in the middle of highway A1 between Prague and Brno.

Hitching In

from Prague direction

Theres a big gas station ÖMV right before exit to Jihlava on A1 highway, so try to stop here, if the driver don't go directly to Jihlava, because its about 7km to the city from highway. Then go to the end of the gas station (as you would like to continue to Brno direction) and you will see forest and small path, so go this way. After 1500 meters you'll see small village called "Nový Pávov" wheres a bus stop "Pávov,II" of public transport of Jihlava city (ticket is for 16 krones=60 Euro cents). So wait for bus number 12 and its going into the centre, you should get out on the main square, bus stop "Masarykovo nám.horní"

from Brno direction

Use the same method like from Prague direction. But you must walk through the bridge - go on the end of gas station and there will be small road to the bridge over highway, so take this way and they continue as I write before.

Hitching Out

West/East towards Prague or Brno

Option 1: Take the bus number 12 or 36 and get out on bus stop "Bosch diesel odb.". Jump over the small fence and go down the small hill and continue on small road around parking lot of big bosch diesel factory. Then you'll see a railway station "Jihlava-Bosch Diesel", so go there, jump over the rails and you'll see approach road. Then continue to the right on this approach road and after 1km theres a bridge and slip-road to the highway A1. Before the bridge is one for Brno direction, and after the bridge for Prague direction. Theres much space enough to stop.

Option 2: Take the bus number 12 and get out on bus stop "Pávov,II", then take the same way to the gas station as I write about in "hitching in" section.

South towards Wien

Take the trolleybus "A" (buses are with numbers and trolleybuses are with letters) and get out on stop "Brtnická ul.". Then go few meters back and get the other main road ("Znojemská street") and continue on foot. After 500 meters there will be ÖMV gas station, but better is continue more 500meters to BENZINA gas station, where's a good spot for lifting. If you'll wait there really long time, continue on the road until you'll reach crossroad with by-pass around Jihlava, so there will be few more cars joining the way to Wien.

North towards Havlíčkův Brod

Take the same spot as for hitchiking to Prague or Brno.

Places to Visit

Jihlava is nice, old time city, with beautiful nature around. Lot of places to visit!
