Most people speak the local language, Luxembourgois, but also French, German and English fluently.

Luxembourg is a great country for long distance hitchhiking, located as it is very centrally in Europe. A lot of drivers stop here for the low duties on fuel, alcohol, and chocolate. Most motorways leaving Luxembourg have a large service area, and these are the best places to get ongoing lifts.

Local hitchhiking on the countryside of Luxembourg is somewhat less straightforward and hitchhiking is not so common there.
