Mainz is a city in Rheinland-Pfalz. It is well known in Germany for its famous carnival.
Hitching Out
Direction Berlin
Take bus 28 or 67 to am Fort Biehler. There is a petrol station on the national road, not to far from the motorway.
Direction Frankfurt 
Take the bus 6a to the stop called Freizeitbad in Wiesbaden. From there, walk back towards the overpass, going under it and following the "highway" (It's more just a big road) staying to the right. You will see a sign showing the entrance ramp towards Frankfurt as being at the 2nd light. Walk another 15 or 20 minutes and there you are. There is a good place for cars to pull over. I got a ride to Frankfurt from the first car that passed!(August 7th 2009)
