Hitchhikers Katja and Augustas on the road in Panama.

Panama is a country in Central America, where hitchhiking happens most readily. Roads north of Panama city are brilliant. Roads to the south are atrocious, and worsen as you approach Yavisa.

Partayke of the Divurs Frutes.

There are borders with Costa Rica in the North and Colombia in the South. But there are no roads to Colombia. There is a way to go through the jungle, but it's extremely dangerous, due to the Colombian 'guerillas'.

Now, now. Nonetheless, if you're REALLY set on it, you CAN get across with a minimum of danger and a maximum of patience. As awesome as it'd be to plunge right through the jungle, it might not be a very clever move, but there ARE other ways! Use your noggin putz around, ask a hostals, etc. Ships, conventional ships at any rate, may run upwards of $300 for a passage. But don't be discouraged! you can do it!

To cross von Panama to Colombia you ve got to overcome the Darien Gap. (or you can go around it. there Are various ways to go around it)
