I hitched from Castellbisbal in August 2006. Instead of walking back along the tracks, I crossed the road and walked down the hill, by some allotments. The guy who worked at the station pointed to the two mountains and told me to go between them. I did, and it worked. I passed under a bridge via a dirt track (the road was being built as I passed) and just past that, on my right, was the service station. I hoped the fence, crossed the footbridge, and hitched south in the shadow of a big 'X' monument. After about an hour and a half, I got picked up by an off-duty police who'd been in Barcelona for a health check up. He gave me a ride all the way to Amposta, and sang Kylie Minogue songs. Good times.

Someone posted the following report under the Montcada open: ''April 16, 2011: Tried this option today. We were told to get off the highway by workers at the toll road. Forced to an exit by more toll road workers. Then picked up by the police and dropped off the station back to Barcelona. Incredibly hard to hitch hike from this area because it's highly discouraged.'' I don't understand this, as Montcada describes a petrol station. Why then would these hitchhikers have had problems with toll booth workers? [[User:CRCulver|CRCulver]] 21:07, 16 April 2011 (CEST)

I will write my suggestion in this order:
 +
- The original text
 +
- Reason for changing text and how I would make clearer is
 +
 +
So...
 +
- The original text text I am referring to is:
 +
"Exit the train station to the left, through the second exit in the direction
 +
of the train. Walk under the railways and pass through the station building."
 +
 +
- Reason for changing text and how I would make clearer is:
 +
You don't actually do what you write so I think definitely change. You wrote
 +
"Exit the train station to the left, through the second exit in the direction
 +
of the train. Walk under the railways and pass through the station
 +
building").
 +
It wasn't clear when I was walking what you meant by second exit etc. I think
 +
you meant second exit of train but it wasn't clear and after exiting the
 +
train it's the only exit so people will definitely find it (unless they walk
 +
on the track!)
 +
 +
More accurately I think write "Exit the train and walk towards the front of
 +
the train where you will find some steps that go under ground and this will
 +
help you exit the station." This seems more logic or clearer at the point in
 +
time you are writing for.
 +
 +
So at this point for us it wasn't also clear (when walking down the stairs
 +
after coming out of the train) which exit to take. It's a subway/tunnel under
 +
the track and only choice is left or right to help exit the station so that
 +
needs to be clear. Right is toward the station building so I would write >
 +
"At the bottom of the steps you can only go left or right, go right and this
 +
takes you under the train tracks to the other platform where there is the
 +
station building."
 +
From this point you can continue to write and link the rest of the well
 +
written direction > "pass through the station building and exit the station
 +
and you will find yourself at a small shopping district with a one way
 +
street."

Montcada

Someone posted the following report under the Montcada open: April 16, 2011: Tried this option today. We were told to get off the highway by workers at the toll road. Forced to an exit by more toll road workers. Then picked up by the police and dropped off the station back to Barcelona. Incredibly hard to hitch hike from this area because it's highly discouraged. I don't understand this, as Montcada describes a petrol station. Why then would these hitchhikers have had problems with toll booth workers? CRCulver 21:07, 16 April 2011 (CEST)

There is a major toll gate not too far from Montcada. Its quite possible a driver left these guys off there as it has plenty of traffic going North. I've used it going both directions with no problem in broad daylight and in the middle of the night. Maybe these guys were attracting too much attention, or were acting unsafe. Usually the Autopista staff and policia are no problem, at worst stop and tell you to stand well in. haggismn 02:03, 9 October 2011 (BST)

Suggestion for improvement received by email

Under: "Option 1: Montcada"

I will write my suggestion in this order: - The original text - Reason for changing text and how I would make clearer is

So... - The original text text I am referring to is: "Exit the train station to the left, through the second exit in the direction of the train. Walk under the railways and pass through the station building."

- Reason for changing text and how I would make clearer is: You don't actually do what you write so I think definitely change. You wrote "Exit the train station to the left, through the second exit in the direction of the train. Walk under the railways and pass through the station building"). It wasn't clear when I was walking what you meant by second exit etc. I think you meant second exit of train but it wasn't clear and after exiting the train it's the only exit so people will definitely find it (unless they walk on the track!)

More accurately I think write "Exit the train and walk towards the front of the train where you will find some steps that go under ground and this will help you exit the station." This seems more logic or clearer at the point in time you are writing for.

So at this point for us it wasn't also clear (when walking down the stairs after coming out of the train) which exit to take. It's a subway/tunnel under the track and only choice is left or right to help exit the station so that needs to be clear. Right is toward the station building so I would write > "At the bottom of the steps you can only go left or right, go right and this takes you under the train tracks to the other platform where there is the station building." From this point you can continue to write and link the rest of the well written direction > "pass through the station building and exit the station and you will find yourself at a small shopping district with a one way street."
