For hitchhiking from Kalamata to  Tripoli , Athens : go to “Nea Eisodos” street which contacts Kalamata with Messini and a good spot may be outside the supermarket “Lidl”  Sparti : go near the bus station

Greece is one of the worst countries for hitchhiking. Especially in winter/autumn time. Maybe it should be edited so people don't end up in a bad situation. Like I have, waiting 7 hours outside Thessaloniki.

I agree that at least northern Greece is one of the worst places for hitchhiking. After hitching from Armenia to Western Turkey in about a week everything came to a screeching halt after my final Turkish ride dropped me in Xanthi. From Xanthi to Thessaloniki almost nothing would work. Not the motorway or roads leading to the motorway or restaurants and petrol stations off the motorway. I finally managed it after walking very far along the motorway with a sign and a thumb and running out of water. To leave Thessaloniki I took the first train of my entire trip. — Hippietrail 16:13, 16 September 2010 (CEST)
