This article says hitchhiking is "a lot easier" in Canada and Mexico. Canada, the US, and Mexico are all rated as "good" on their respective articles, I feel like this gives off a negative vibe towards hitching in America. After having hitchhiked many thousands of miles in the US and in Canada, I would say they are very near the same for getting rides, just depends on local location.
