Some info about serbia and belgrade...

Hitchhiked in spring 2007 through Serbia. I got into Belgrade fairly easy with one ride almost all the way from Zagreb. But going from Belgrade to Nis was a bit harder. I only got short distance rides. It is expensive for drivers to pay the toll on that road from the north of Serbia to the south and there is not a lot of traffic (appr. 10 euros). Hitchhiking seemed to be less common as in Slovenia and Croatia. I got stuck in the middle of nowhere just off the highway and I had to ask drivers to take me just a short distance. From there I just hitched from the shoulder. --Robino 00:37, 1 April 2008 (CEST)

I can approve the same experiences from last year July 2007. Many tourists then are on the way to Turkey, with filled up cars. But nevertheless it's possible to do the route in one day. Hitchhiking on the shoulder or directly on the highway isn't that hard, too. Police only asked me to go off the highway and drove away, so no problems with that. Even trucks stopped directly on the highway. platschisite, wikitalk 16:33, 1 April 2008 (CEST)
Hitching through North Serbia was fairly easy and so friendly, even hitching at night (June 2008), we had fun in Vojvodina getting a ride quite quickly on the country road at night from one village to another. Then another day a straight ride to Beograd. But leaving Beograd to Nis has been a total failure, I tend to say it is quite impossible to leave that city unless someone does manage to put the details on how to get a transport to the Toll and start from there. Has anyone ever found a spot from Belgrade (without a map the one detailled is completely non-understandable Maplefanta 00:16, 30 June 2008 (CEST)
I've hitched three times through Serbia, and found it relatively hard. In this country I stop less cars, many of the cars that do stop have foreign instead of Serbian drivers, and that even 1 in 5 cars that do stop drive off again (after they find out I'm not speaking Serbo-Croatian?). Maplefanta, I hitched a few times out of Belgrade, I might add some extra info on this later. jurgen 00:59, 10 September 2008 (CEST)
Blackriding : why do we need to talk about this ? Surely we hitchers should buy tickets ..otherwise we are stealing from the people that pay --Stewgreen 09:58, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
