It is possible to sleep at the beach in the nearby resort town of Awaza (aprox 10 km away), at least when it is not high season.Simply get the city bus number 6 towards [[Awaza]] from the stop in front of the train station (Wokzal). the place is not really thought for hitchhikers but there are comfortable places at the beach - in front of hotel Tajrish it is possible to camp sheltered from the sun by an umbrella. Ask the bus driver to drop you there or anywhere near the beach.''

If you are in a big hurry because your visa expires, a taxi from the train station will take you to the border. When we asked for prices they started in 100 $ for two people but fastly came down to 60$. The police said it would be possible to get it for 40$ but we did not insist and hitchhiked instead. Just make sure they will really take you to the border, and not just to Garabogaz, the last 50 km are through unpaved road and would cost you an extra 10$ if you are hurrying and need to get a new taxi.
