Ulm is a middle sized German city east of Stuttgart and west of Munich.

Getting on the A8

If you want to go towards Stuttgart this spot is perfect. There is an Esso gas station at the B10/B28 just before the Ikea intersection. It takes about 10 minutes to get on from there.

If you get dropped off at the trainstation you can get there easily by taking the crossover left of it, going right and left again into Bleichstraße. At the end of it you will find the gas station.

If you want to go towards Nürnberg it is more time consuming, but within an hour you should get away (one hour for one girl hitchhiking on her own). Otherwise try getting to the Spot in Neu-Ulm directly.

Heading south

If you want to go south you can try the Gas station on the other side of the road. It is not perfect, but also works.

Getting on the A7

If you want to travel on the A7 try to start directly in Neu-Ulm.

Another possibility to get to the A7 that is much faster in my opinion: Take Bus number 58 from main bus station (near train station) direction Albeck and get out at Rasthaus Seligweiler (There is a bus every hour) Link to this place (http://maps.google.de/maps?f=q&hl=de&q=seligweiler&sll=48.460031,10.034852&sspn=0.023792,0.053902&ie=UTF8&ll=48.45801,10.031333&spn=0.023793,0.053902&z=15&iwloc=addr&om=1)

There is a bus station where you can hitchhike easily direction Heidenheim (it's a small highway, that leads to the A7). You need to ask the driver if he goes at least to Autobahnraststätte Lonetal.

Note: From Rasthaus Seligweiler it's also very easy to get on the A8 in both directions (Stuttgart or Munich)
