I hitched my first ride (not counting some small few kilometers local routes) towards the Croatian coastline when I was 17 and since then every summer I've tried to one up myself. In 2016 it was Subotica and Belgrade, in 2017 it was Prague, in 2018 it was Athens/Mykonos, in 2019 it was Lisbon doing the norhtern European coast, in 2021 it was Lagos doing the southern European coast and doing major detours in France, in 2022 it was Isfahan (and back) and in 2023 it was Algeria (sadly didn't hitchhike in it as much).

2017: Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic

Hitchhiked

~50,000km

The following is not an exact science since a lot of it is from relatively distant memory. Some trips might have been forgotten, others following a little bit different routes.

Croatia: over 22000km. Impossible to know the exact number and it would be repetitive to even try to remember it all and write it down but some of the most frequent routes are Zagreb-Samobor, Zagreb-Rijeka, Zagreb-Split, Šibenik-Split, Pula-Šibenik to numerous concerts and festivals. I've hitchhiked on 15 islands, hitchhiked into over 80 towns/cities and through 100s of them. We also had a game where we would get drunk and hide in the toilet of the first train we see and then hitchhike back as well as just having hitchhiking afterparties which contributes to the high number.
