Hey Flov! Welcome on hitchwiki and thanks for your contributions. By the way, do you know a good way to leave Düsseldorf in direction East/North (A1, A2)? I'm looking for an alternative way; I always take a train to Dortmund, which wastes a lot of time. --MrTweeksite, wikitalk 22:51, 3 October 2007 (CEST)

And money... German trains are ridiculously expensive. guakasite, wikitalk 00:37, 4 October 2007 (CEST)
No, I study there, so it's free for me. Otherwise I wouldn't do that. --MrTweeksite, wikitalk 09:32, 4 October 2007 (CEST)

Hi Flov, I think it is quite possible I will take part in 888project. I would start in Coventry/Birmingham. Are you up for meeting in London? Or Dover??? better Dover... Hitching way down to Paris together? Racing to Paris? :P Any other ideas?

and how the hell is it with this hitching through the channel?

Categories

Hi! Your user page category has been changed to Category:Hitchhikers in Germany because from now on this (along with the old Category:Hitchhikers) will be a standard categorization for hitchhikers on hitchwiki.org (see this discussion here for the reasons of doing so). If for some reason you don't want to be categorized by country, feel free to delete country category on your page leaving only a standard Category:Hitchhikers. We hope you don't mind.

Happy hitching,

Great idea, any clue as how I would add my 34 years on the road to it? Individually adding every trip, let alone every ride is simply impossible.

Most of my trips are round-trips, and it doesn't make a lot of sense add my first trip as "De Bilt" to "De Bilt", 47 rides, 2,981.2 km, 33:44 hour... And then having to click 360 times on a calendar to get to the starting date? Pass me a bucket! Never heard of drop down lists?

You need to create a method to bulk-upload data using a delimited format but I'm most certainly not going to suggest you use the format I use, because that is far too detailed (is it?) and totally incomprehensible for anyone but me. A simple (pseudo-)XML format would probably be pretty useful, but it would need to be set up correctly from the start, not like my format, which is the result of too much fiddling over the years. FWIW, my log pages on Neocities are generated automatically from my data, be it that the sections containing the summary log need some manual work!

Hell, even a simple delimited text format like

city1/100.5+0:50/city2/12.6+0.20/city3/etc

would already work to get the basics.

And get a forum on the site itself, it is a very big PITA to go off-site for discussions about a site. What's wrong with a phpBB forum?

PS: Netherlands (1399 km) and The Netherlands (427 km) are the same...
