Yucatán is a federal state of Mexico with a population of about 2,000,000. It is located on the Yucatán peninsula in the south-east of Mexico and shares borders with the states of Campeche and Quintana Roo. The capital and most important city of Yucatán is Mérida. Within the state of Yucatán lie some of the most famous and most visited Maya sites, including Chichén Itzá and Uxmal.
