Best bet is to take the commuter bus (route 222) to the park Grand Parkway Park & ride Ride out in Katy (near highway 99), cost is $4.50. Get a Q card for 5 bucks at any grocery store and enjoy unlimited bus transfers, you'll may have to take 3 a couple of busses to get there from downtownto the Downtown Transit Center to catch the commuter bus. ItAfter that, it's a couple miles walk around the two I-10 bends, but once you get there it's an easy hitch directly from the freeway. Plenty of good camping in the area, definitely check out Wildcattersand/or Southland Bar and Grill. Plenty of good camping near both bars. McDonald's, HEB and Walmart also within walking distance.
